CARDEN

Our aim is to produce truly outstanding handcrafted wine, using only the finest grapes and the best winemaker.

It does not stop there, we source beautiful french glass for our bottles and the highest quality 100% natural corks, to ensure that our wine matures perfectly.

Many wineries bring wine to market too early, before it is drinking perfectly. We refuse to do this. Our first vintage, 2010, was released for sale in 2013, our 2011 in 2014, our 2012 in 2015 and our 2013 will be released in 2016.

We waited three long years before the release of our first vintage, 2010, and were delighted to receive a 92 rating for our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and a 90 Rating for our Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, both from the Wine Spectator. Our dedication to producing only the finest wines, without compromise, has been recognized, and we are truly delighted.

WINEMAKER

“I believe that the personality of wine begins in the vineyard. I particularly enjoy the challenge of discovering the “voice” of each vineyard site. It is my goal to express this unique personality in each and every wine that I make.”

Tony Rynders

One of the most highly-acclaimed winemakers in the Pacific Northwest, Tony Rynders’ specialty is ultra-premium wines. In Oregon and Washington, he has worked his magic at such esteemed wineries as Argyle, Hogue Cellars, and Domaine Serene, where he spent a decade knocking out 90+ rated wines. When asked about his success at making so much highly-rated wine over so many vintages, Tony used one word: “consistency.”

In the vineyard, that means hands-on, long-term management, a proactive approach to the increasingly extreme and inconsistent weather conditions of recent years, and an experienced vineyard management and crew. In the winery, it’s using the very best fruit, hand-picked and sorted, to make the vintage’s best wines. And it’s making a wine that buyers can depend upon, year after year, for a consistent quality, style, and flavor. The goal is always to make exceptional wine that clearly shows its roots, and is defined by perfect balance between structure and power.

VINEYARDS

Carden wine is produced and bottled in Oregon.

We source our Pinot Noir grapes from a select group of top vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley, and our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown in the Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills AVAs in Washington.

Making wines of consistently high quality, complexity and balance are our primary goals. In order to achieve this each and every year, we choose sites representing a range of soil types, elevations, slopes, vine age and clonal selections. The soils range from weathered volcanic basalt to sedimentary soils which are both marine and fresh water in origin. The complexity and balance of these exceptional wines come from bringing these complementary components together. Our grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted to maintain the highest levels of quality.
